It may not sound very Israeli or Hebrew, but “Trump” might become the name of a community in the Golan Heights if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gets his way.

There “is a need to express our appreciation by calling a community or neighborhood on the Golan Heights after Donald Trump,” the Israeli premiere said. “I will bring that to the government [for approval] soon.”

U.S. President Donald Trump last month officially recognized Israeli sovereignty over the strategic plateau, a territory that has remained internationally disputed since the Six-Day War. Israel captured the region during the 1967 war and annexed the region 38 years ago.

Last week Netanyahu toured the Golan with his wife and sons

“I am here with my family and many citizens of Israel at the foot of the Golan Heights, happy with the joy of the holiday and our beautiful country,” Netanyahu said in a video post during Passover. “And there is more joy. A few weeks ago I brought President Trump’s official recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights forever.”

Netanyahu said Israel should “express our appreciation by calling a community or neighborhood on the Golan Heights after Donald Trump.”
