Introduction
Jerusalem Theater
20 Marcus St., Jerusalem
Hillel Bazaq (born in Jerusalem, 2003) offers a broad view of what is happening around us and within us,
allowing the viewer to simultaneously
embrace separation and integration, the whole and the missing. In doing so, the
artist expresses opposition to superficiality and strives to broaden the
horizons of the individual and society.
In his works, the artist often deals with issues related to Jewish
and Israeli tradition, as well as history and general culture.
The human core that he strives to distill is presented to the
viewer in a way that is simultaneously epic and plays on the border between the
worlds of cartoon and psychedelia.
From the Night of Images Rise Motifs and ritual objects that
characterize our culture and familiar cultures from the past, such as the
figure of the priest, a Roman column, urns, clothing details and more, which we
observe from above.
The painting "The High Priest" is an example of the
artist's way of bridging gaps and empty sections through the integrity of the
composition, combining and mixing essential motifs from Jewish culture with
Eastern mysticism and cosmic elements, and the exploratory play with color,
texture, and depth that deceive the viewer and allow for different and original
perspectives in themselves.
