In the roof garden of the Waldorf Astoria in Jerusalem and on the balcony
overlooking the sea of Hilton Tel Aviv
you can have Food and cocktails invented at Hilton hotels throughout
history.
Last
Thursday, at the lovely sunset of Jerusalem, I visited the roof garden of the
impressive Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Agron Street in Jerusalem, marking the
100th anniversary of the establishment of Hilton Worldwide. It was an
enjoyable, exciting and highly recommended experience.
The
Garden Terrace, the open roof garden of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Jerusalem,
overlooking the Jerusalem skyline, reopened this week. The roof garden, which
specializes in Mediterranean-style tapas, created by the hotel's senior chef, Itzik
Mizrahi-Barak, is one of the most spectacular and indulgent places to spend
a summer evening in the capital of Israel. The "Garden Terrace" also
offers quality cocktails, produced by the hotel's professional mixologists, and
a rich selection of well-known alcoholic drinks.
In the
summer of this year, marking the 100th anniversary of the opening of the
world's first Hilton hotel in Texas, USA, the event has been celebrated
simultaneously in the world, and since the opening of the first hotel in Texas,
Hilton is a leading global hospitality company with a toolkit containing 17
world-class brands, more than 5,600 different hotels With nearly 913,000 rooms,
in 113 countries and territories.
Hilton
has included more than 3 billion visitors in its special history, and this is
just the beginning.
In
Israel, the chain's leaders decided to put the emphasis on foods and beverages
invented in the chain's hotels over the past 100 years. A wise decision that
excited me and taught me something about the history of some foods I never knew
were invented in the chain hotels. Among the most prominent of them -
Waldorf
Salad - The dish was first served at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York in
1896 at a charity party at St. Mary's Children's Hospital - chicken breast,
apple strips, celery, grapes, walnuts
Benedict's
eggs were first introduced at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York in 1894 to
a stockbroker who wanted to relieve his chills by combining unique ingredients
at breakfast - an egg, spinach, chili, brioche
Red Welt
Cake - first served at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. The original
attempt to create a distinct color and unique taste gave rise to the second
goat color of the famous dessert
Brownies
- A dessert first served at the Palmer House Hilton in 1893 was created
specifically for the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America
Pina
Colada - first introduced at the Hilton in Puerto Rico in the Caribbean in
1954. With a dreamy cocktail of rum, pineapple and coconut cream
The
martini was first created in the Waldorf Astoria New York in 1890 and was
originally called the Waldorf Astoria Cocktail, the martini was the world's
most famous cocktail. Gin or vodka of your choice with a dry Vermouth hint and
a stirred and chilled Angostura Bitters sandwich.
The
dishes are only part of a rich variety of additional dishes, on which chef
Itzik-Barak Mizrahi of the Waldorf Astoria in Jerusalem and Rafik Jabarin of
Hilton Tel Aviv worked.
The
"Garden Terrace" is open to hotel guests and the general public from
Sunday to Thursday between 18:30 and 23:30. Guests can enjoy 2 hours of free
parking in the hotel's garage.
The
lobby terrace at Hilton Tel Aviv is open all week, from the morning until late
at night. There is no need to book in advance.
